Meet the Author

Susan Eisen has been passionate about the care and transfer of beautiful things since 1976 after learning how to create and design jewelry under professors Rachelle Thiewes and Wiltz Harrison at the University of Texas at El Paso. In 1980, she became the owner of Susan Eisen Fine Jewelry & Watches, a retail jewelry store in El Paso, Texas, showcasing jewelry, watches, and art by artists from around the world. As a result of her respected experience in her field, she has been invited to write articles for major national jewelry industry trade publications, speak at national jewelry events, and assist in research and development for major corporations. She has won many national and regional awards including Woman Retailer of the Year from the Women’s Jewelry Association, Top 29 America’s Best Jewelers from National Jeweler Magazine, El Paso SBA Small Business Person of the Year, and Women of Impact in El Paso. In 2007 she published her first book: Crazy About Jewelry – The Expert Guide to Buying, Selling, and Caring for Your Jewelry and since then has spread her knowledge and love for jewelry heirlooms all over the United States.

Just after completion of her first book, Ms. Eisen decided to write about what has affected most of her clients in different ways: how to prevent a family battle from occurring after the death of a parent. Her experience as a inheritance consultant, jewelry & art appraiser, confidante and advisor to her clients enabled her to develop the ideas written in this book. By planning ahead and heeding her advice, her clients’ future generations will be assured of having a loving and close family experience rich with the appreciation of the heirlooms.
